Maureen Glennon Clayton will premiere two small works; When I Fall, a trio signifying the potential need to provide others and oneself with stability and safety and Us, a duet created with the dancers inspired by their own personal stories of where they are presently in their lives. Both works serve as examples of the virtues and intrinsic traits of endurance, empathy, generosity, and integrity that women uphold. Four guest choregraphers will present work and Glennon will present here new group piece, MOVE, with over 30 participants performing.

Every Day We Wake Up is an immersive, site-specific performance inspired by Seward Johnson’s sculpture The Awakening, the many histories of Hopewell Valley, and the land of St. Michael’s Farm Preserve. Weaving together dance, music, storytelling, poetry, and community artmaking, this gathering considers memory, imagination, legacy, and nature. Featuring work by performing artists Michael J. Love, Tomia MacQueen, Sattriya Dance Company, Maiko Uchida, Ann Robideaux, donia salem harhoor, and more, this family friendly event celebrates the arrival of the monumental sculpture to Hopewell. 3) a Resource Fair (for mental health, addiction and disabilities)

The acclaimed faculty will provide in-depth coaching to enhance each dancer’s artistic voice.

Join us for the 15th annual Ailey Day celebration at NJPAC! This full day of immersion into dance includes a variety of movement classes taught by this year’s talented group of professional artists, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater alumni, and faculty and students.

Dancers at all skill levels are invited to take part — you can take your first steps into dance performance, or show off the moves you already have, at this joyful event. In addition to the classes, you’re invited to join us for a group warm up session, and a panel discussion with our visiting instructors. When you aren’t dancing, join our engaged partners for arts and wellness activities, including children’s book readings, health screenings, and mosaic art making. At the end of the day, you’re invited to demonstrate what you’ve learned, and see performances by a cohort of local dance companies at the Show & Share.

The gala then moves into the Bickford Theatre where a 40-year retrospective performance of Dorfman's iconic, innovative, intelligent, and inspiring works will be presented.
